This fall Tabor Home Vineyards and Winery celebrates our 30th Anniversary. The winery was bonded in 1996 just in time to use the harvest for commercial wine production. The vineyards are 37 years old this year making Tabor Home Iowa’s oldest estate winery. Over the 30 years Tabor Home Vineyards and Winery wines have won more than 350 awards in national and internation wine competitions.
Tabor Home Winery has had quite a record in the development of Iowa’s wine industry as 1) one of the original forming members of the Iowa Grape and Winery Association, 2) working to get very progressive legislation in Iowa that includes the ability of native wineries to sell directly to retailers, tax exemption for wines sold at native Iowa wineries and creation of an affordable wine permit that allows retailers to sell specifically native Iowa wines in their shops. In 2006 Tabor Home Winery was one of the founding wineries of the state’s first wine trail, “The Iowa Wine Trail”, and in 2009 Tabor Home led the successful effort to create “The Upper Mississippi River Valley” viticulture area, Iowa’s first federally-approved AVA. Tabor Home Winery produces 11 wines with the Upper Mississippi River Valley appellation.
The winery has been a popular venue for private and public events since 1997. Tabor Home Winery has hosted for 28 years a summer music series, “Music in the Vineyards” that features some of the best Iowa singer/songwriters and is one of the area’s most enjoyed winery events.
As we look back, we are proud what Tabor Home Vineyards and Winery has become and we are ever grateful for the support that we have received from so many of you.

The 2025 vintage of Tabor Home Winery wines was outstanding and results of the 2026 Iowa State Fair commercial wine competition confirm our enthusiasm about the four 2025 wines. The 2025 semi-sweet La Crosse and the 2025 semi-dry First Bloom won Gold medals and were top wines in their categories. The 2025 sparkling Catawba Applause, and the 2025 sweet Brianna wines won silver medals in their respective categories. That’s four for four! And then there is Wild Blackberry which won one of a very few Gold medals for fruit wines.
Come to the winery or visit us at the many events we have planned this month to see what the 2025 vintage had to offer!
